Hornets give back
Another year, another amazing showcase of the generosity at Licking Heights Local Schools!

North Elementary’s student council organized their annual canned food drive and collected an impressive 9,288 items for the Food Pantry Network of Licking County.

“Our students and staff pulled together for an even better result than last year,” said Denise Nugent, fifth-grade teacher, and student council advisor. “I am feeling especially grateful for working with such a generous group of people.”

Both Mr. Howard and Ms. Harger’s classrooms earned a pizza party for collecting 2,753 items and 2,271 items, respectively.

During Red Ribbon Week at South and West Elementaries, students brought in donations of non-perishable food items and toiletries for the Military Veterans Resource Center (MVRC.) Their mission is to help veterans develop self-reliance and independence by providing access to the resources they need to successfully manage their lives.

“The MVRC distributes donations directly to homeless veterans in the area, a mission that gives back to those in our surrounding community,” said Lindsey Needham, guidance counselor, South Elementary. “With Veterans Day so close to Red Ribbon Week, we thought it would be one way we could help give back to those who have given so much to us.”
