PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BELOW BEFORE PREREGISTERING YOUR STUDENT. INCORRECT APPLICATIONS WILL BE REJECTED.

In January 2026, Governor DeWine recently signed House Bill 114, which updates the kindergarten age eligibility requirement for public schools across Ohio. Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, children must be 5 years old on or before a school district’s first day of school to be eligible for kindergarten. For Licking Heights, the first day of school for the 2026-2027 school year is Thurs., Aug. 13, 2026. Therefore, all incoming kindergarten students MUST be five years old by Thurs., Aug. 13.

See preregistration instructions below for students who are currently enrolled at Pathfinders Preschool and those who are not. PREREGISTRATION STEPS ARE DIFFERENT FOR CURRENT PATHFINDERS PRESCHOOL STUDENTS.

Steps if your child is NOT currently enrolled at Pathfinders Preschool:

Step 1: Pre-register online on the district website.

Step 2: Email all required documents to [email protected]. This includes:

—Birth certificate

—Immunization records

—Parent’s ID (both parents)

—Mortgage/lease/notarized Residency Agreement

—Utility bills

—Custody documents, if applicable

Step 3: Once all documents are received, our District Registrar, Ashley Shelton, will email you a confirmation and a link to sign up for a REQUIRED kindergarten screening appointment. The email will include all necessary information about the screening process.

Step 4: After July 1, 2026, parents/guardians will need to log into PowerSchool and complete the Emergency Medical Authorization (EMA) forms located under “Forms” on the left hand side. Click on “Enrollment.” The EMA tabs will then be visible. These tabs/forms MUST be completed before the first day of school.

Steps if your child IS currently enrolled at Pathfinders Preschool:

Step 1: If the student is a current preschool student, all enrollment documents submitted when a student was enrolled at Pathfinders Preschool will follow them to kindergarten.

Families will only need to provide new residency documents if:

—They are on a lease and it expires before school starts on Aug. 13. Families with a new lease must submit an updated lease and utility bill.

—The family is on a Residency Agreement with the district. Families on a Residency Agreement must submit a new notarized RA and a utility bill from the owner.

Step 2: Current Pathfinders Preschool students will also need to complete their required kindergarten screening.

Step 3: After July 1, 2026, families will need to log into PowerSchool and complete the Emergency Medical Authorization (EMA) forms located under “Forms” on the left hand side. Click on “Enrollment.” The EMA tabs will then be visible. Tab F, the transportation form under New Student Forms, will also need to be completed. These tabs/forms MUST be completed before the first day of school or the student will not be permitted to attend school until all forms are completed.
