Sept. 26 - Join Us for the 4th Annual Athletes vs. Epilepsy Game!

We are thrilled to announce that the Licking Heights Girls Soccer Teams are hosting the 4th annual Athletes vs. Epilepsy Game on Thurs., Sept. 26 at the new Hornet Stadium. The JV team will play at 6 p.m. with varsity following at 7 p.m. Both teams will take on Mount Vernon.

This event not only celebrates the incredible perseverance of former team manager and athlete Kaitlyn Wells (LH class of 2023), but also raises vital funds and awareness for the Epilepsy Foundation.

A Story of Strength and Inclusion
Kaitlyn Wells joined the LH Girls Soccer program in 2019, beginning as the team manager. Through her hard work and determination, Kaitlyn earned a spot on the team in 2020. Despite facing the challenges of epilepsy—experiencing seizures during practices and team events—Kaitlyn’s courage and resilience have been a source of inspiration for her teammates and community.

The Athletes vs. Epilepsy Game was established to honor Kaitlyn’s journey and support the millions of epilepsy warriors like her. Kaitlyn’s experience also played a pivotal role in the passing of Sarah’s Law, which now mandates Ohio schools to be Seizure Safe and provide epilepsy awareness and safety training.

What to Expect: A Fun-Filled Evening for a Cause
This year, the event will feature multiple additional opportunities to support the Epilepsy Foundation, including the following:

—Raffles: Thanks to generous donations from local businesses, we’ll be raffling off some amazing prizes, including: a patio set and a stone propane firepit courtesy of Lowe’s; a basket containing everything for a home Movie Night; a luxurious Bath and Body Works self-care basket; and a delicious Velvet Ice Cream basket.
—Bake Sale: Enjoy homemade cookies, cupcakes, and Rice Krispy treats!
—50/50 Raffle: Try your luck while contributing to a great cause—money will be donated to the Epilepsy Foundation.

Supporting a Greater Mission
This event has raised over $5,000 in the past three years, directly funding seizure safety training for schools across Ohio. With Sarah’s Law now requiring Ohio schools to adopt seizure safe protocols, the funds raised through this game will continue to expand those efforts, with hopes to eventually bring this important training to colleges and universities.

All proceeds from the game and raffles will go to the Epilepsy Foundation, helping to make a tangible difference in the lives of the 3 million people in the U.S. living with epilepsy and seizures.

Support the Cause
Kaitlyn Wells, now a student at Capital University and seizure-free for almost three years, continues to advocate for those living with epilepsy. You can help by attending the event or donating to Kaitlyn’s fundraising page to ensure that every epilepsy warrior receives the support they deserve.

Let’s unite on September 26 to cheer for the LH Girls Soccer Team and raise awareness for epilepsy. No one fights alone!
