Welcome to the 2021/ 2022 School Year
Dear Families:
I want to officially welcome all our existing families, as well as, our new families to the 2021/22 school
year!

Each family should have already received a copy of each school building welcome letter. If you have not
already received a copy, please contact each respective building principal for a copy of the letter. These
letters contain important information specific to each building.

As we begin the new school year we are welcoming many new students and families. In fact, our school
district is still one of the fastest growing in Ohio. Once the new school year begins and things settle, I will
provide an update about future planning and our strategic look forward to address such rapid student
enrollment increases. Watch for updates to be released as early as this September.
New this fall is our conversion to two technology platforms, PowerSchool and Schoology. The buildings
will provide specific details about the platforms, but both are being adopted to provide more support and
options for students, families and staff.

For the new school year we are in-person, five days per week. Additionally, masks are strongly
recommended for staff and students for all school functions, but are not required except on school buses.
Regarding school buses, a federal order issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
is in place until September 13, 2021 that requires masks to be worn by anyone riding on public
transportation, including school buses.

Since my August 6 letter there have been some minor updates to the Ohio Department of Health’s
Guidelines and Fact Sheet. Click the following for more information ODH Guidelines and the Fact Sheet.
Also, attached is another copy of our local 2021/22 COVID-19 General Procedures. Within these
documents you will see references to “layered prevention strategies.” As a school district, we are focused
on such preventions. There are too many to list within this letter, but some examples include: cleaning,
sanitizing and hand washing; seating charts; hallway transitions; students who choose to wear masks; etc.
Again, these are examples and we ask you help us follow layered preventions to enhance the safety of our
staff and students.

I again want to welcome you to the new school year. On a personal note, I am beginning my 11th year as
superintendent. It is an honor to serve this community, but none of this would be possible without the
support of our staff, families and community. I look forward to the future and continued enhancements
within the school district.

Sincerely,
Philip H. Wagner, Ph.D.
Superintendent
