SNAP Emergency Allotments Ending March 1, 2023; Supplemental Assistance Available through Food Pantry Network of Licking County

Dear Licking Heights families,

We are writing to let you know that SNAP Emergency Allotments are ending after February 2023. Effective March 1, 2023, the federal government will end additional SNAP funding families received throughout the pandemic.

Families receiving SNAP will continue to receive their usual benefit allotment at the start of the month. Only the second allotment at the end of the month will end.

Meeting the needs of our students and families is a fundamental goal of our schools. We know that this change potentially impacts many families across our district and county, so we are providing information to help meet additional needs created by the ending of this benefit.

The Food Pantry Network of Licking County (FPN) is doing everything they can to fill the gap for families who have received additional SNAP benefits for the past three years. This includes maintaining a wide network of pantries and fresh produce distribution sites across Newark and Licking County.

For more information about FPN, their member pantries, and available services and programming for those experiencing food insecurity, please call (740) 344-7401 or visit their website.

If you have any questions about SNAP and your benefit allotment, please visit the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services (ODJFS) website here.

Thank you,

Dr. Kevin S. Miller, Superintendent
