Laura Mickelson
Laura Mickelson has taught both English to Speakers of Other Languages, and French, for over 25 years in the K-12 and post-secondary environment, and spent the last 15 years at Licking Heights in grades 5-8. “I believe it is important to acknowledge and celebrate the diversity in the Licking Heights School District. As one of the most diverse districts in Ohio, it is our privilege and duty to be a leader in diversity, equality and inclusivity so that all of our students and staff may feel a sense of community.”
Lana Whaley
Lana Whaley has been a seventh grade social studies teacher at Licking Heights for four years. She enjoys connecting the past to the present and teaching students to think critically about the world around them. “Alongside Mr. Stroud and others, I was part of the inaugural Diversity Council at Central. To me, equity is integral to the success of any school or community. I am excited to help the district achieve these aims in any way I can!”
Ernest White
Ernest White is currently attending the University of Dayton pursuing his Clinical Mental Health licensure. Additionally, he holds a Master of Science in Education degree with a concentration in School Counseling (K-12) from the University of Dayton. Currently, Ernest is a licensed school counselor with the Licking Heights Local School District. He runs the Strategies for Intervention & Prevention Program. “My purpose for being a member of the Diversity Equity and Inclusion Council is to bring new ideas, cultural awareness, inclusivity, and effective growth.”
