American Studies
This course will focus on the history of the United States from 1870 to the present day, with emphasis on the domestic affairs of the nation. Students will consider the cultural, economic and governmental changes that occurred in each historic era. Students will develop a deeper understanding of their role as citizens and will expand their command of social studies and methods. Students also will be expected to complete outside reading and homework assignments, and do at least one research paper or project each quarter. Students must participate actively in class discussions and debates.

PREREQUISITES: summer reading assignment is required with a essay/test due on the first day of school.
