In 4th grade math, students will be learning the following skills:
- review of 3rd grade math standards
- rounding numbers to any digit
- multi-digit addition and subtraction with and without regrouping (carrying and crossing out) up to the millions
- one and two digit multiplication
- long division
- quick recall of Add., Sub., Multi., Div. facts
- Math Properties (associative, identity, commutative and distributive)
- adding, subtracting, multiplying and comparing fractions
- prime and composite numbers
- decimals
- customary measurement (inches, feet, yards, cups, pints, quarts, gallons, ounces, pounds)
- metric measurement and conversions of units
- finding the area and perimeter of a polygon
- geometry (points, lines, rays, parallel and perpendicular lines, angles, lines of symmetry)
- working to solve tricky multi-step word problems with all these topics.
When I read it altogether like this...it seems a bit overwhelming and difficult but we learn math together as a team while we utilize reading, writing, speaking and working with others to make life long connections in young minds. We can do this!! Mrs. Ayers :-)
