Technology in the Classroom
To differentiate instruction and allow students to progress at their own speed, I have incorporated a computer driven instruction component. The format of the class will be:
First two days: teacher driven instruction, guided practice, hands on practice and small group work.
Third day: Students are assessed. Students that understand the concept, progress to independent work though MathXL. Students who still need practice move to a small group and receive intensive intervention.
Fourth day: The intervention group is assessed again. Students that show mastery move to the computer based instruction. Students who still need practice work as a group to master the skill.
Fifth day: Flexible instruction or supplemental skills.
If the students do not complete MathXl, their test grade will be used for the MathXL grade.
