BOARD APPROVED Elementary School Attendance Boundaries for 2024-25 School Year

We are happy to announce that the Board of Education has approved new attendance boundaries for our elementary schools. This decision comes as we gear up to open a new elementary school this coming fall, prompting us to revise our attendance zones. Our goal with these adjustments is to ensure optimal class sizes, meet the needs of our students, and keep up with the expanding needs of our community.

Throughout this process, we have worked hand in hand with the community, taking your feedback into account at every stage. Your insights have been crucial in guiding these changes, and we deeply appreciate your active participation.

Key Highlights of our Plan:

—There will be no splitting of neighborhoods, so all students in a neighborhood will attend the same elementary school. Per our redistricting surveys, this was one of the biggest desires of our families.

—Nearly 2/3 of our students will attend the school closest to their home, fostering a sense of community and belonging. This also was a major desire for our families.

—Our plan accommodates future growth, ensuring our schools can evolve alongside our community.

—The adopted plan will assign about 729 K-4 students to the new elementary school. It will also reassign about 150 students from West to South or South to West.

Families who live in the red area will attend the new elementary school. Families in the gray area will attend West Elementary. Families in the yellow area will attend South Elementary. To find out where your home falls on the new map, please click here for an address identifier tool.

Looking Ahead: New Building Names

The upcoming opening of our unnamed elementary school offers us a chance to rename our elementary and intermediate schools across the district, aligning them more closely with our community's values and identity. While we are not ready to unveil new names just yet, we anticipate providing updates this Spring. Please note that our middle school will remain Licking Heights Middle School and our high school will remain Licking Heights High School. Our district name will also remain Licking Heights.

Support and Communication

Do you still have questions or want to know more? Consider utilizing one of the resources below. It remains our goal to support you and your child each step of the way.

Coffee Meetings: We will have multiple dates for coffee with me and members of my team, the first of which is on Mon., March 4 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at West Elementary. This is a time for you to ask questions about redistricting or anything else you would like to discuss regarding Licking Height Schools. All are welcome!

Frequently Asked Question (FAQ): We have tried to anticipate some of the questions that might arise and put them down for you to review. The FAQ document can be found on our website and by clicking here.

Video: We have created a short video that walks community members step-by-step through the process of finding out which school district their children will be assigned to. Families can use the redistricting tool to enter their address and see where their elementary student will attend in 2024-25.

We're deeply grateful for your ongoing support and engagement. Our decision was guided by a commitment to address the community's needs and to enhance the educational journey of both current and future students. I am eager to keep the dialogue open, working together to ensure a seamless transition for everyone involved.
