Kate Bigley is originally from Dayton, Ohio. She received her Bachelor’s Degree as an Intervention Specialist from The University of Toledo. She also attended Graduate School at BGSU and earned her degree as a Certified Autism Specialist. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. Prior to entering the public school system, Kate was a private provider under the Autism Scholarship of Ohio providing school and home-based ABA therapy. Over her 16 years in the public school system, she has served many roles within the Special Education Department as an Intervention Specialist in Behavioral Units, Multi-Handicapped Units and consultant for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders. During the 2021-2022 school year, she served as the School Psychologist Assistant for the District here at Licking Heights. Kate also serves as a district trainer for Crisis Prevention Intervention. This will be Kate’s 5th year at Licking Heights School District.
Prior to working at Licking Heights, Kate worked for Olentangy Local School District for 4 years as an Intervention Specialist serving students in Specialized Learning Centers across several buildings, grades K-8. Kate also worked for Bryan City Schools in Northwest Ohio as an Intervention Specialist for 7 years.
In addition to teaching, Kate is a state Ambassador for the Autism Speaks organization, working diligently with legislators in Ohio to increase funding for individuals and families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders. She has served on many boards across the state and has conducted several trainings for educators and parents at the University of Findlay, Bowling Green State University and Miami University of Oxford’s School of Mental Health.
Before going into Education, Kate worked in Television Broadcasting and Journalism in NYC.
In her spare time, Kate enjoys spending time with her family and is actively involved at her church in Gahanna.
