Assessment Information

The new state tests replace grade 3 math and grades 4-8 Ohio Achievement Assessments. All third grade students will take the grade 3 reading Ohio Achievement Assessment in the fall and spring (House Bill 367). The Ohio Test of English Language Acquisition and Alternative Assessment for students with significant cognitive disabilities are in the spring.

The ACT is a curriculum-based educational/career planning tool that assesses the mastery of state and college readiness standards. It is accepted by all four-year colleges/universities in the US.

The PSAT/NMSQT offers your child practice for the SAT and the opportunity to earn scholarships. It also provides an evaluation of your child's skills and comparison with other college-bound students, as well as a chance to learn about colleges interested in students with a profile similar to your child's. All students who take the PSAT/NMSQT receive access to My College QuickstartTM, a personalized online planning tool that helps them get ready for the SAT and prepare for college and careers. You and your student can access this website at www.collegeboard.org/quickstart and sign in using the code located in bold type highlighted in light blue at the bottom of your student's score report.
