English Language Learner Services and Supports

English Learner (EL) Plans
Each student will receive an English learner plan that outlines the student’s current OELPA assessment, the services suggested for the student, and supports that the student should receive.  Parents will receive an updated EL Plan every year and must sign to consent or refuse the services.
Elementary Level (K-6)

SMALL GROUP/PULL-OUT INSTRUCTION
Students that are Emerging or low Progressing (levels one or two) will receive small group instruction daily. Progressing (Level three and four) students will receive small group instruction on an as-needed basis.

INCLUSION/PUSH-IN
EL teachers co-teach with grade level ELA teachers. The EL students are scheduled into the ELA classrooms with the peers and the EL teachers modify instruction to fit their language proficiency levels and needs.

Secondary Level (7-12)

MIDDLE SCHOOL:

ELL SUPPORT CLASS
These classes are designed for Emerging or Newcomer students that have little to no English Language proficiency and Progressing students who need supplemental English language support. INCLUSION CLASSES (ELA, Math, and Social Studies)
Inclusion classes are offered based on the highest student need. The EL teacher co-teaches with the content teacher to ensure the content is comprehensible to the EL student. All EL students will be placed in grade level ELA, Math and Social Studies inclusion classes.

ESL Intervention and Enrichment

This is a 30-minute assist-type class offered to EL students for additional support and reteaching as needed. No credit is received for this class.
