Dear Families,
While your child is a member of Book Club (Title I), he/she will be participating in a program called “Leveled Literacy Intervention.” It is a program designed for students who will benefit from additional daily reading and writing activities. Each day your child will participate in activities such as phonics/word work, writing, reading, and discussing books.
At the beginning of each level, students will bring home a packet called “The Home/School Connection.” The front side is a letter to the parents/guardians describing activities that can be completed at home based on the lesson that was performed in Book Club. The remaining pages are activity pages that can be completed at home and turned in once the packet is complete. I will return the packet after I have checked it. Each packet will contain all the activities for the whole level.
There is also a reading log in your child’s folder. Each evening your child reads a book, please place the date, adult signature, and any comments you have for each book. There will be a goal for each level (2 week period).
Goals for Levels:
Read 8-10 books: Receive a prize
Read 7-6 books: Receive a pencil
Read 5 books: Receive a bookmark
If less than 5 books are being read in a 2 week period, then I will contact parents/guardians. Please support me in conveying the importance of reading books every day.
